The Exam notice for the UPSC CMS exam was released on April 19, 2023, and the exam date was notified in the notification. UPSC will conduct the CMS exam on July 16, 2023. The time, duration and venue of the CMS exam will be notified through the UPSC CMS Admit Card 2023.  We can expect the commission to release the UPSC CMS admit card one-two week before the exam date. The 2023 UPSC CMS Exam will be divided into two phases: Phase I will be a written examination worth 500 marks. Phase II will be the personality test round carries 100 points. The written examination will have papers I and II, each worth 250 marks. Paper I will have two sections on General Medicine and Paediatrics, whereas Paper II comprise Surgery, gynaecology & obstetrics, and preventive social & community medicine. Each exam will have 120 questions worth 250 marks. The exam will be conducted in CBT mode in MCQ format. Negative marking is applicable in the examination. Each incorrect response will result in a deduction of one-third of a mark. Unanswered questions do not result in a failing grade. A candidate will receive a negative grade if they provide two or more incorrect responses, even if one of the choices is the right one.

UPSC CMS Exam Day Instructions 2023

The commission has laid out certain guidelines which need to be followed while taking the CMS exam. These guidelines will be mentioned on the CMS Hall Ticket 2023. Some of those guidelines are provided in this section for the ease of candidates.

  • In order to undergo security checks, candidates must arrive at the exam site prior to the reporting time specified on their UPSC CMS 2022 admit card.
  • The password for the CBT exam will be given to applicants 10 minutes before the exam.
  • Immediately following the given time has passed, the applicant’s responses will be automatically submitted.
  • Prior to the exam’s authorised time expiring, applicants will not be permitted to leave.
  • We suggest that applicants must visit the exam centre one day beforehand to get familiarised with the route and traffic to the examination venue.
